It’s official – Chris Hemsworth is returning to Star Trek.

Rumours that there will be a fourth film in the rebooted sci-fi franchise have been confirmed by Paramount Pictures.

And Chris, who appeared in 2009′s Star Trek and its 2013 follow up Star Trek Into Darkness, will be back as Captain Kirk’s father, George Kirk.

The studio said the next chapter in the saga will focus on Chris Pine’s Captain Kirk crossing paths with the father he never met.

No title or release date was announced.

The third film in the series, Star Trek Beyond, is about to open in cinemas.
