The divorce settlement between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard is to be finalised this week, her lawyer has said, following a row over payments.
Pierce O’Donnell released a statement to E! News after it was reported that only a small proportion of the seven million dollars pledged to charity by the actress has been paid out.
“The settlement documents are being finalised and will be signed this week,” the lawyer said.
“Johnny is obligated by the settlement to pay Amber, and she in turn will honour her pledges to Children’s Hospital (of Los Angeles) and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).”
According to reports, the ACLU said it received 350,000 dollars from Amber on August 19, while the children’s hospital confirmed it had been presented with its first instalment.
Johnny agreed to pay Amber seven million dollars as part of their divorce settlement, which she said she would donate to the hospital and the ACLU domestic violence unit.
The Pirates Of The Caribbean star responded by saying he had paid the first instalments to the charities himself “in the name of Amber Heard”.
This promoted Amber’s legal team to claim Johnny’s decision to pay the charities directly meant he must donate 14 million dollars to account for tax deductions.
Last week Amber released an emotional video of herself holding back tears as she talked about domestic violence.
The actress split from Johnny in May after alleging he was “verbally and physically abusive” to her during their relationship.
She later released a joint statement with the actor saying there was “never any intent of physical or emotional harm”.
