Plans for Kanye West to leave hospital on Monday were abandoned because the rapper is still recovering from a breakdown, it has been reported.
The musician has been receiving treatment since last week when police were called to reports of disturbance in Los Angeles, a day after he cancelled his tour.
TMZ reported that Kanye was due to be released from UCLA Medical Centre on Monday but he is still “not stable” and is struggling with extreme paranoia.
Sources told the celebrity news website that no release date has been set and Kanye’s wife Kim Kardashian has been at his bedside all week.
Kanye was reportedly admitted to hospital suffering from “temporary psychosis due to sleep deprivation and dehydration”.
His doctor Dr Michael Farzam told police the music star had attempted to assault a staff member at a gym and he had placed Kanye on an involuntary psychiatric hold, known as a 5150, meaning he was handcuffed to the stretcher as he was taken to hospital, according to reports.
Kanye, 39, abruptly pulled the plug on his Saint Pablo Tour this month following a series of on-stage outbursts.
He ended a concert after four songs in Sacramento, California, before cancelling a performance in Los Angeles a day later, just hours before he was due on stage.
He had previously spent 10 minutes during a show ranting about Beyonce, Jay Z, Hillary Clinton and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg. He was also heckled by concert-goers after telling them he would have voted for Donald Trump in the US presidential election had he decided to cast a ballot.
