THEATRE-GOERS can set sail for a swashbuckling Christmas production of Treasure Island which is running at Birmingham Repertory Theatre this festive season and into the New Year.

Based on Robert Louis Stevenson's classic pirate adventure, the tale has been adapted for the stage by Bryony Lavery - whose version of A Christmas Carol played packed houses in 2013.

The REP’s artistic director Roxana Silbert said: “We’re pulling out all the theatrical stops to create a truly breathtaking show for the whole family to enjoy."

Sarah Middleton stars as Jim Hawkins who unearths a treasure map and, together with a motley crew of sailors and pirates, sets sail to seek out a lost island where riches await; while Michael Hodgson plays villainous pirate Long John Silver.

The show, which is suitable for children aged seven and upwards, runs until Saturday January 7.

Tickets, priced £15, are available from the box office on 0121 236 4455 or online from birmingham-rep.co.uk.
