STOURBRIDGE have clinched a home draw with Biggleswade in the FA Cup First Round.

The tie is set to take place at Stourbridge's Amblecote ground on Saturday, November 9.

The Glassboys could have drawn the likes of Wolves, Coventry City, Sheffield United or Portsmouth, but instead were handed a tie against a fellow Southern League Premier Division side.

Some of the club's players, officials and supporters gathered at Hagley based bar West One to hear the draw and were delighted with the outcome.

Chairman Andy Pountney admitted he would have liked to have drawn one of the big sides away, purely from a financial point of view, but described the tie with Biggleswade as a 'brilliant winnable game'.

The club's directors will meet this week to put a plan of operation into effect, but Pountney believes there won't be any special arrangements required.

Having hosted the likes of Walsall, Plymouth Argyle and Stevenage Borough in the past five years, Stourbridge have now become quite adept at staging games of this nature.

There should be no need to introduce additional seating and Stourbridge are likely to approach the game as they would for any important league contest.

Pountney hinted the game could become an all-ticket affair, but only by virtue of the fact it could help with further allocations, should Stourbridge progress to the Second Round.

Mr Pountney also stressed the club shouldn't take anything for granted and pointed out that Biggleswade would be fancying their chances of progressing as well.

He claimed: "It's fantastic to get someone from the same level as ourselves - from that point of view, it couldn't have been better.

"But we will still need to be on our mettle and we will be showing Biggleswade as much respect as we'd show anyone else".
