NORTON people celebrated St George's Day raising cash for charity at an open house event.

Janet and Bas Yeates, from Norton Green Tenants and Residents Association, opened their Caslon Crescent home to 48 visitors on Saturday (April 26).

Last year's event raised £120 for Midlands Air Ambulance and Mrs Yeates said the charity was so grateful that they chose it to benefit from the proceeds of this event.

The couple managed to raise £213 on the day by raffling off prizes donated by local businesses.

Mrs Yates added: "Everyone came and enjoyed a cup of tea and a chat and we had an enormous buffet. It was a really nice day."
