HUB Stourbridge remains hopeful its current fundraising campaign will receive a late shot-in-the-arm as members look to raise enough cash to lease their own premises in the town centre.

Hub director Odilia Mabrouk revealed the current campaign which concludes on June 5 had raised several thousand pounds but they remain well short of their projected £20,000 target to set up their own flexible work and community space in Stourbridge.

Most of the money raised has come through grants and loans and Odilia said: "We've got our sights set on one particular premises in the town centre and we're just keeping our fingers crossed it doesn't get snapped up by anyone else.

"We've been overwhelmed by the support we've had so far and this will help us to plough as much funding into the project activities as possible, rather than spending it on paying high interest to lending organisations."

Stourbridge Hub has gone through a nomadic existence and has operated out of places such as the Duke William pub in Coventry Street and the Talbot Hotel.

The Hub brings together people who work from home. It also attracts organisations from councils and charities - in fact anyone looking for workspace and somewhere to meet.

Interest has been on the increase and Odilia said: "We usually get between 60 and 70 people attending events.

"It proves there is sufficient support in Stourbridge for the Hub, which offers many benefits to members and proves attractive to people who don't want to travel long distances to work in overcrowded offices."
