Stourbridge pub shows support for local breweries

First published in News

STOURBRIDGE based Wetherspoons pub The Chequers has been showing its support for local breweries.

The pub has joined forces with CAMRA's LocalAle Scheme to promote local brews that are produced within 30 miles of the pub.

As a result, the town centre pub will be featuring Kinver Brewery Company from September 1 to 7.

As part of the campaign, regulars will be able to meet representatives from Kinver Brewery at The Chequers on Monday September 1 from 7pm.

Wetherspoons supporting local breweries, yeah right!

More like they are losing trade to a great selection of real pubs around Stourbridge already selling great local ale!

I don't blame kinver getting the exposure as they are a great bunch of folks with wonderful beer and undersold in Stourbridge especially when u compare them to Enville ales.

We have many pubs selling the likes of kinver, enville, craddocks, ma pars, bathams, sadlers the list could go on but these pubs are put at risk by big chains. Yet the ever so more n more political local camra group are keen to promote this behaviour!

Us pubs can't compete on price, fancy promo's & advertising like spoons. True local ale is one of our last hopes. Giving people a reason to visit and keeping our pubs alive. Keeping us unique.

Stuff like this is just another kick in the teeth, yet camra moan about true real pubs closing, well as far im concerned u may not be the executioner but your sharpening the blade!
