HIMLEY bonfire and fireworks event went off with a bang at the weekend.

Thousands of people turned out for the annual show at Himley Park, the largest local authority fireworks display in the country, which this year had a 'divas and dudes' theme.

Heart FM entertained the crowds throughout the evening on Saturday November 8 and the giant bonfire, made from 1,500 wooden pallets, warmed up young and old alike before the 30-minute firework display, set to tracks by some of the biggest names in rock and pop, lit up the skies.

The event, organised by Dudley Council and sponsored by Sanders and Co Solicitors, also included fun fair rides from Thomas Jones and seasonal refreshments.

Councillor Hilary Bills, Dudley's cabinet member for environment and culture, said: ā€œIā€™m delighted so many turned out to enjoy the fun. I would like to thank our sponsors Sanders and Co for helping us to create such a memorable night.ā€

A free bus service ran from Dudley, Coseley, Sedgley, Quarry Bank, Brierley Hill, Halesowen and Stourbridge - ferrying people to the park.
