Sports thrashed Wednesfield 6-0 last weekend to record the biggest away win in the West Midlands Premier League and are looking to complete a league "double" over their near neighbours having triumphed by a single goal to nil when the two sides last met in November.

But joint boss Neil Perks has his eyes on a bigger prize than three points.

He said: "We have a Midweek Floodlit Cup semi final against Coventry Sphinx on March 13 and we are really wanting to win that one as getting to a final and a chance of some silverware would cap a wonderful season for us.

"If Dudley Town win their semi as well it would make for a great final."

Proud Perks reflected on Sports record breaking romp against Wednesfield and said that it was fair reward for the improvements his squad has made in the last few weeks: "We have always had the ability," he claimed. "But the players were not fit enough in my opinion.

"Since (joint boss) Paul Blakeley has come in, the fitness levels and commitment has improved so much. Wednesfield couldn't live with us at times. I hope we can take that sort of form into the Dudley game. We will need to be ready for them as I am sure they will be a little bit hurt after losing to us," he added.

Town manager Mark Kavanagh (pictured) said everyone at the club was looking forward to the game and agreed his team would be looking for revenge.

The Robins cheif said: "We owe them one, no doubt about it. We do not want to lose to them again.

"But it is the three points that are all-important. It doesn't matter who we are playing."

Like Sports, Town face Coventry based opposition in the cup when they take on Massey Ferguson at the War Memorial Ground on March 13 and Kavanagh was quick to explain the importance of a cup victory for his side: "It is a semi-final and all semi-finals are big games. It would be great to play Sports in the final," he said.

Town warmed up for the derby match with a 1-0 win over Bustleholme. Christos Makris' early goal was enough to take the points but Kavanagh was unimpressed with the performance. "We won, but other than that it was not very good. The game was very scrappy and we would like to play better than that, but it does keep us in the top six."

The Robins were due to face Wolverhampton Casuals on Tuesday and were expected to be without Andreas Andreau and Dirdip Singh who are nursing ankle knocks but Kavanagh hopes both players will be in the squad to face Sports.

Andreau and Makris have arrived at the War Memorial Ground as part of a link up between The Robins and BG Midlands side Willenhall which has seen a number of players sign for Town, including goalkeeper James Pemberton. Kavanagh believes the link up is good for everyone. "It is mutually beneficial. It lets Willenhall players get games at a good level and also helps us get better players into the squad."
