WEATHER forecasters have put the Worcestershire and the Black Country on alert for high winds during the day.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for gusts of up to 50mph which could cause disruption to travel and damage to trees.

The gusts could reach around 55 mph in a few exposed sites.

Given the unreasonable nature of the winds, they are advising the public to be aware of the potential localised disruption to transport and outdoor activities, while damage to some trees remains possible.

The latest assessment from the chief forecaster at the Met Office says the gustiest conditions will become more confined to England and Wales, before easing down later this afternoon and evening.

It will be cloudy with some patchy rain or drizzle throughout the morning.

The afternoon will brighten up and it will be mostly dry, with some spells of sunshine, with highs of 16C.
