GENEROUS supporters of a Kingswinford teenager, who suffered a brain haemorrhage, splashed the cash when they staged a tea party on her behalf at Blakelands Country House near Stourbridge.

They raised £750 for 19-year-old Elle-Mae Davidson, who was tragically struck down with the life-altering condition three years ago.

The total was boosted by the kindness of Paul Morgan, owner of Blakelands at Halfpenny Green, who offered to host the tea party free of charge on Thursday June 4.

Close family friend Louise Evans said the money would help pay for the family to visit America later this month.

During their visit, Elle-Mae will spend two weeks at a dolphin rehabilitation centre in Florida Keys before going to Disneyland in Orlando.

Academic Elle-Mae had her sights set on studying Russian at Oxbridge when she suffered the haemorrhage in January 2013.

At the time she was given little, if no, chance of survival but - after spending five weeks in critical care, seven months in high dependency and the next 16 months in a children's rehabilitation centre in Surrey - she is now back living at home with her parents.

Louise said: "There has been a tiny bit of improvement, but it's been slow progress and only time will tell.

"Her mum Leah Davidson was my best friend at school, we've known each other since we were ten-years-old.

"I care for Elle twice a week and am one of 'Elle's Angels'. She was a bridesmaid at my wedding when she was just two-years-old, so she means a great deal to me.

"She can't see and can't even communicate at the moment and we live in the hope that brain stem treatment might help."

The Promise Dreams charity, based in Wolverhampton, has helped part fund the trip to America with a donation of £2,000.

The charity helps to make dreams come true for seriously and terminally ill children and their families.

Louise added: "Leah and her family are inspirational people and I know they are overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone who has supported Elle since she was first taken ill in 2013."

Elle's family are already planning another fundraising event with a ball on September 4 at the Park Hall Hotel in Wolverhampton.

Tickets for the ball, which includes a three-course meal, live music and bacon sandwiches at midnight, cost £45 and can be obtained by calling 07967 123430.
