A BELBROUGHTON businessman has pleaded guilty to running a scrap metal site without a proper licence.

Giles Detheridge, of Hartle Lane, appeared at Worcester Crown where he admitted operating C&D Metals on Blackpole Trading Estate, Worcester, without the correct environmental permit.

The 34-year-old appeared in court with John Bruce, aged 42, of Crabbe Lane, Wadborough, near Pershore, who pleaded guilty to causing or allowing oil to be poured into a brook from a site on Blackpole Trading Estate without the proper environmental permit. He also admitted causing or allowing the site to be used without a proper permit.

Ronald Calder, aged 53, of Hurcott Road, Kidderminster, has previously admitted operating at C&D Metals without the required permit as well as allowing the discharge of oil into Barbourne Brook from the site without a permit.

The charges, which date back to 2011 and 2012, have all been brought by the Environment Agency.

Pre-sentence reports have been ordered and all three will be sentenced together on a date to be fixed.
