IT’S Friday! It’s sunny and it’s Wimbledon semi-finals day – so here’s our travel update to help you get home swiftly this evening.

The worst affected route for motorists appears to be the M6 southbound where roadworks and a broken down vehicle have been causing delays.

Disruption is reported between J6 A38(M) Aston Expressway and J5, A452 (Castle Bromwich), due to a lane closure because of a broken down lorry.

Meanwhile traffic is easing following an earlier accident on the M5 northbound at the link road to the M6 north carriageway.

The hard shoulder is closed and a speed restriction of 50mph is in place due to major roadworks on the M6 southbound between J9 A461 (Wednesbury) and J8 M5.

Ongoing work to replace the waterproof layer and potholes is causing delays.

Three lanes remain open but the hard shoulder will not be available for use as a live lane during busy periods - until November 1.

The link road from the M6 south to the M5 is also affected and down to a single lane.

Meanwhile, a lane closure due to roadworks on the A456 Kidderminster Road, Hagley, is causing delays in both directions at the junction of the A491 Stourbridge Road.
