Stourbridge Probus Club

The club met on July 19 at 12.30 at the new venue at Hagley Golf and Country Club and were made very welcome with an excellent meal. There were 26 members present.

The speaker was Meg Farmer with her talk on "101 children, 20 years fostering".

She trained as a nurse and after she had married and had three children she could not have any more so she decided to start fostering.

She told us stories of different children she had fostered over the last 20 years. Some were sad but many were amusing and she still keeps in touch with a lot of them.

She also fostered children with special needs and set up a care line for foster parents. Over 20 years she fostered 98 children plus her own 3 making a total of 101 children.

She often had several at a time some for a short time but some for much longer they ranged from babies to teenagers.

It was a very interesting talk enjoyed by all.

The club meets on the third Tuesday of the month. After lunch there is normally a speaker and several outings are arranged each year.

If any ladies or gentlemen are interested to come as a visitor or would like to be a member please contact the secretary Pat Grainger on 01384 394442. You will be made very welcome.

The speaker next month is Roger Pannell who will talk about "My wild year".
