DUDLEY Zoo's four Colombian black spider monkeys have enjoyed traditional Shrove Tuesday fare today.
Valentine, Charlie, Chester and Evita, usually enjoy a well-balanced daily diet, but keepers couldn’t resist using the eggs, flour and milk recipe to make up a batch of pancakes for the primates' breakfast.
Lower primates keeper, Jade Reddall, (pictured above), said: “We give the spider monkeys vegetables and primate pellets, but they did enjoy the pancakes as a one-off treat and were eagerly waiting to catch them as I tried to flip them over the fence.
“I made sure all four monkeys caught their own individual pancake, which they ran off with to the other side of the enclosure to tuck into.
"They loved them and couldn’t eat them fast enough.”
