AN unconscious elderly man was found with serious head injuries in Brierley Hill this morning (Tuesday).
Paramedics were called to Delph Road at 6.46am and took the 70-year-old man to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
An area of Delph Road, near Hill Street, was cordoned off this morning while police investigated the circumstances that led to his injuries.
Detective Inspector Colin Mattinson, from the force's CID, said: "We cordoned off an area while we made enquiries into how the man came about his injuries.
"After speaking to a number of witnesses and trawling CCTV we are satisfied that that the man was taken ill and sustained his injuries from a fall and that there is no criminal involvement.
"He remains in hospital and will be spoken to in due course.
"We would like to thank the local community for helping us with our enquiries especially the two pupils from Thorns Community College, who initially raised the alarm and provided first aid, they did a fantastic job."
