A TRIO of Stourbridge women are taking on an Olympic-sized challenge to raise cash for a good cause.

Sisters Charlotte and Faye Robbins, along with Lisa Hill will be tackling the Slateman challenge, a full Olympic distance triathlon, on Sunday May 21 to support the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The women, who are are all keen athletes, will attempt to complete a 1,000m open water swim, a 54km cycle on the Llangollen path and an 11km trail run on Mount Snowdon.

Charlotte Robbins is a teacher at Hadley Learning Community where she works with a young girl, Morgan Murray, who was given the devastating news at the age of 14 that she had stage two Hodgkins Lymphoma.

She is now in remission and on a five year battle plan to be clear of the disease.

Charlotte Robbins said: “Having seen first-hand the day to day struggle Morgan has suffered and the effect it has had on her education and social life within school we wanted to do something to help.

"The Teenage Cancer Trust has supported Morgan through this awful time as well thousands of other young people who show day in, day out, their extraordinary courage to beat this horrific disease.

"When put into context, Slateman seems like a walk in the park compared to what Morgan has suffered, however we hope it is a big enough challenge that we are able to help children around the country in their on-going battles."

The girls have already raised around £2,0000, to make a donation visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/snowdonslateman2017 or contact Charlotte at charl.robbins@gmail.com
