AN award-winning Kingswinford garden centre is opening its private garden for charity this weekend.

Ashwood Nurseries will open owner John Massey’s garden from 10am-4pm on Saturday (July 14).

The three-acre private garden features a glorious display of grasses, herbaceous perennials, daphnes, hydrangeas and summer pots among other attractions.

Informal borders, island beds, woodland dells and a wildlife meadow are set against the beautiful backdrop of the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal.

In addition, there will be a local choir entertaining visitors at around 11.30am, weather permitting, while Heritage Working Boats will have a historic barge moored on the canal.

Admission is £5 (payment by cash only) with the entire entrance proceeds going to the nursery’s charity of the year, WINGS (Wombourne Special Needs Support Group). No dogs allowed.
