Halesowen Town have called on the services of former fans favourite Alex Cowley to give them a helping hand in their push for promotion from the BGB Premier Division.

The wide-man has been snapped up from Bromsgrove Rovers and made a winning return in his third spell with the Yeltz in their 2-1 win at home to Gloucester City on Tuesday.

Manager Morell Maison was delighted to have secured the signature of Cowley for the nail-biting run-in.

He said: "Alex is a welcome addition to the squad.

"He has already shown me he has the tenaciousness and doggedness we need to get promoted.

"For a wide-man he's also strong defensively and will give me a number of extra options between now and the end of the season."

The midweek victory was the club's second in the space of four days following a thrilling 3-2 win at Cirencester on Saturday, courtesy of a last minute strike from Dean Brennan.

The back-to-back wins have put the Yeltz top-of-the-table and Maison had special mention for the club's supporters.

He said: "I think the fans have been terrific, especially during these two wins.

"The hundred or so who travelled to Cirencester made it into a home game for us and sang throughout and really kept the lads going.

"Then at home to Gloucester on Tuesday in horrendous conditions they turned out in force and gave us unbelievable support and I'm just over the moon with the way they have responded to me and the team.

"It's a real testament to them and their support for the club."

The Yeltz will travel to bottom-of-the table Cheshunt on Saturday without Zema Abbey who is likely to be out of action for at least another week.
