ONLOOKERS may have thought an alien had landed when out of this world scenes unfolded as part of a video shoot for Black Country metal punk rock act WEAK13.

The band, who earlier this year signed a deal with international label Sliptrick Records, recreated scenes from John Carpenter’s 1988 science fiction movie They Live in parts of the Midlands including Stourbridge, Wolverhampton, Telford and Birmingham.

The video was filmed by Black Country-based cinematographer Billy Ghuman who directed WEAK13 singer and guitarist Nick J Townsend to parade around Staffordshire, Worcestershire and the Black Country wearing a specially designed prosthetic headpiece created by Manchester FX makeup artist Jade Robinson.

Director Billy Ghuman said: “Every WEAK13 video has been different and gives me the ability to be creative but it wouldn’t have been an amazing video without the understanding and communication me and Nick have.”

Frontman Nick was spotted performing as an alien from sci-fi horror flick They Live and he said: “What made it difficult was performing with partial vision due to the size of the prosthetic eyes I had to wear.”

WEAK13 are no strangers to science fiction. They previously released a space-themed cover of Otis Redding classic (Sittin’ on) The Dock of the Bay.

Their recent John Carpenter-inspired music video accompanies the single Go Away (Nada remix) which is available on all major music platforms via Sliptrick Records.
