STOURBRIDGE’S newest pub has been proving popular in its first few days of opening.
The Crafty Jar opened in Lower High Street on Monday (November 19).
Stourbridge businessman and councillor Steve Clark and publican Andy Smith, who previously ran The Plough Inn in Wollaston, have opened the new free house bar - creating around seven new jobs.
Steve, who runs a telecoms business and property company as well as being on Dudley Council’s cabinet, said it’s taken 11 months to transform an old arts and crafts shop into an “upmarket bar”.
He said: “We had a soft opening Saturday and Sunday and opened on Monday, and we had a great time. It's really exciting.
“People are liking the beers and wines.
“The wines are outstanding, and we’ve got our own beer, 161, that’s been brewed for us. It’s a citrusy IPA which has gone down a storm.”
The bar is open midday to 10.30pm Sunday to Wednesday, and until 11pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
