MORE than 600 dedicated charity supporters embraced the holiday spirit on Sunday December 3 – donning festive suits to take party in The Mary Stevens Hospice’s annual Santa Jog.

Runners of all ages dressed in Santa suits braved the wintry weather to make it round the 5k course in Mary Stevens Park to help raise vital funds for the hospice in Oldswinford.

Furry companions also joined in the fun which kicked off with a warm-up session led by Fitness Factory and a performance by Bhangra Smash Up.

The event also included a festive market, a winter trail, and an appearance by Santa Paws - and all finishers successfully completing the fun run received a well-deserved medal at the end.

James Totney, events fundraiser at the hospice, said: "It was a fantastic day, and the turnout of more than 600 supporters truly blew us away. We received lovely feedback from attendees, who, despite the weather and icy conditions, came out to support the hospice and enjoy the run too."

The popular event raised £5,223 through registrations alone but hospice bosses expect the total to rise significantly as sponsorship money is collected in.

Mr Totney thanked supporters and sponsors who made the event possible - adding: "We would like to extend a huge, heartfelt thanks to all of our supporters for their continued generosity and support."
