A LIFESAVING defibrillator has been installed in Quarry Bank to help save lives after the tragic death of a woman in Oak Street,

Sarah Nicklin has been fundraising for the lifesaving piece of kit since the tragedy which happened in May in which motorist Linda Conn crashed and passed away after suffering a medical emergency at the wheel.

Sarah raised £1,000 from a fundraiser at Quarry Bank Conservative Club and this was added to with funds from the funeral collection for Linda.

Sarah said: “The reason I started the fundraising is that I realised the closest 24-hour defibrillator was over a mile away.”

She said the work to install the vital kit was carried out free of charge by a local electrician and it is now available for use in emergencies – having been installed outside Quarry Bank Conservative Club in High Street.

With funds left over £300 was used to buy Christmas gifts for the children’s ward at Russells Hall Hospital.
