A WOMAN has been taken to hospital with "potentially serious injuries" after a car hit a wall in Wordsley in the early hours of this morning (Monday March 18).

Three children and one other woman were taken to hospital after the crash, which happened just after 1am. 

Police have closed off the road while investigations into the crash continue. 

Buses have been diverted and people are advised to avoid the area. 

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We were called after a car hit a wall in Camp Hill, Wordsley, at just after 1am today (18 March).

"A woman has been taken to hospital with potentially serious injuries.

"Another adult and three children have also been taken to hospital with injuries which are not believed to be serious.

"The road is currently closed while enquiries are carried out."

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "Three ambulances, a paramedic officer, MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic and the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car were sent to the scene where, on arrival, we discovered one car had come off the road and collided with a wall and there were five patients.

"A woman was cut free from the vehicle with the assistance of fire crews before being treated for serious injuries by ambulance staff and conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for further treatment.

"A second female patient and three children were assessed and treated for minor injuries before being taken to Russells Hall Hospital."
