Hundreds of items worth thousands of pounds have been taken over several weeks by a gang targeting stores selling cosmetics

Officers arrested, charged, and remanded four people, all from Coventry, at the weekend for a series of shop thefts.

They said they worked with shops and the Kingfisher Shopping Centre and were able to identify those responsible.

Sunita Buzatu, 37, of Signet Square, Coventry, pled guilty to three counts of theft from shop at Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (13 April).

Alexandru Patru, 19, of Signet Square, Coventry, pled guilty to two counts of theft from a shop.

Matrix Sulejmanovic, 19, of Signet Square, Coventry, pled guilty to two counts of theft from a shop.

And Ionel Vilceanu, 44, of Signet Square, Coventry, pled guilty to four counts of theft from a shop.

They were all bailed with conditions, including not to enter Worcestershire, to an address on Bell Green Road, Coventry for pre-sentence reports and are due to appear at Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court again on May 13.

Police Sergeant David Roberts of Redditch Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) said: “We are pleased to catch this gang who are responsible for thousands of pounds worth of retail theft in Redditch recently, thanks to good partnership working.

“Redditch SNT will continue to target those people who commit theft and support our stores within the town in tackling those who seek to target them.

“Retail crime can be seen as a victimless crime; however, we know from working with shops that it not only impacts staff, but also the public. It can also be linked to serious and organised crime.”

They were arrested by officers from the Abbey Safer Neighbourhood Team with support from Redditch patrol team.
