Old Hales Colts chalked up an impressive 31-12 victory at home Old Old Silhillians to record their second win out of three games so far this Season.

It was an exciting game with both sides showing an eagerness to run the ball as often as possible.

Old Hales had a clear advantage in the scrums where props Chris Poole and Rob Butler burrowed away with intensity which enabled debutant hooker Mike Edmunds to supply regular ball from the set peices.

In the line-out second row Harley-Yeadon contributed with a quality service of good ball to scrum-half Matt Jenkins.

With all this posssession outsid -half Alex Herbert was able to set free his threequarters and Andy Holloway and David Wakefield were like dogs off a leach as they sprinted at the opposition.

The visitors were not to be outdone and only some brave tackling from Full-back Mike Lawley and Winger Jake Shellis kept them from scoring.

Both teams contributed to a spell of ineffective rugby as the ball was dropped on to many occassions.

Andy Chambers and skipper James Sadler tried to change this with some rumbustious running.

However, it was the threequarters who breached the defence when Andrew Holloway burst through for the first of his three tries of the afternoon.

Then came a spectacular try from Luke Cullis who after shrugging off defenders ended with a leap inside the corner flag.

The visitors replied with a great converted try.

Old Hales were now able to put in some good team moves and Andy Holloway flew in two more tries converted by Andy Tromans.

Old Hales replacements Stevie Deakin and Matt Whitehouse provided more impetous but could not stop the visitors scoring another try.

Old Halesonians Colts really put on the pressure which culminated in David Hunt powering his way over to score a well deserved try converted by Alex Herbert.

This was a good win for the Old Hales Colts and will put them in the right mood when they face a tough cup away fixture nest week against Whitchurch.

Rounding off a winning weekend for Old Hales were U17s who beat Dudley Kingswinford 17-5. Both teams started well with Old Hales having more of the possession and territory, DK scored first in a break away try, just before half time.

Old Hales started the second half as they did the first, with fast handling and strong running by forwards and backs alike, epitomised by runs from Ghassan Al-Hourani, Callum Mahony and strong rucking by Orie Shaw and Sol Rogers. Eventually, Hales imposed their superiority with tries by Sam Foster and Loise Madican, in the end as the heat and pace of the game began to tell, Hales topped off this winning performance with a lone running try by Mahoney, duly converted by Foster.
