A cyclist has been evacuated by the Midlands Air Ambulance with life threatening injuries after a crash in Belbroughton.

The man, believed to be in his 20s, was found lying on the pavement on Drayton Road with head injuries.

The accident happened at 4.20pm yesterday (Friday). The cyclist is thought to have been travelling towards Belbroughton. He was airlifted to Selly Oak Hospital in a critical condition. His family have been informed.

West Mercia Police have launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses to get in touch.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service thanked the farmer who let the Midlands Air Ambulance land in his field and transported the crew in his land Rover.
