A QUARRY Bank man hopes to net World Cup singing success with the release of a new remixed version of his football ditty.

Ken Harris’s All The Way (With England) track went down a treat with football fans around Stourbridge when he first unleashed the original recording last year.

But determined to realise his goal to see his feel-good track become a World Cup anthem - Ken took the extra step of getting the already catchy song remixed into an even catchier dance version.

Remixed and recorded by Raindance Records at Amblecote Christian Centre, the track has now been included on Cherry Red Records’ Pretty England album - an independent collection of the best World Cup ditties released to coincide with the 2010 South Africa tournament.

IT developer Ken said: “I’m very pleased with it. It’s something different from the norm - and you can’t help but want to dance to it. I feel we have created a classic that will get all the fans excited.

"And it could achieve a chart position - depending on how many people buy it."

Ken has also released his own EP called Fan-Fare featuring both the dance and original versions of All The Way (which was first penned in 2005 with songwriter Avril Staple) - and another World Cup number Flags Are Flying High, written earlier this year with partner Debbie Adams.

The 38-year-old said has released the offering, through Matchbox Recordings, under the artist name of Raindance instead of his own as a tribute to Chris Smith and Nic Burrows at Raindance Records.

He said: “They’re fantastic people - I’m really grateful I could work with local talent in Stourbridge.”

Ken, originally from Gloucestershire, also enlisted the talents of Wollaston artist Alan Birch to design the Fan-Fare EP cover - which he said he was “really pleased with”.

Not one to do things by halves - he has also, with the help of film-maker Matt Stroyde, put together three videos to accompany the songs, which he hopes will score him a prize in an online World Cup video competition.

Shot on location at Amblecote Christian Centre in April - the videos for both All The Way songs feature performers from Phoenix Productions; while the Flags Are Flying High concentrates on a cartoon strip theme. All three can be seen on YouTube.

Fan-Fare and Pretty England (featuring the dance remix of All The Way) are available to buy from iTunes, HMV and Amazon and many more online music sites.

Footy fans will also be able to hear the tunes in pubs and clubs throughout the summer, as they look set to surface on jukeboxes across the country.

Meanwhile Stourbridge musician Steve Heathcock’s World Cup efforts are also making waves.

England Forever is available from download websites and the video to accompany it, shot at Stourbridge Football Club, can be seen on YouTube.

Proceeds from sales of the single will go to Macmillan Cancer Support.
