POLICE have promised a clampdown on anti-social behaviour hot spots in Norton after complaints from residents.

Top of the list of priorities are the boozy yobs causing trouble in Mary Stevens Park.

Sergeant Keith Pagan from the Norton Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We are still receiving some complaints regarding anti social behaviour in the park; including under age drinking and the bowling greens are being used as a football and cricket pitch. I will be increasing patrols both on foot and by cycle.

“We are looking to educate the young people who are caught acting anti-socially.”

Police have also promised to address the problem of speeding cars in Norton.

Sgt Pagan said: “Local residents expressed their concerns about excessive speed by vehicles in various streets across the Norton neighbourhood.

“The main roads of concern are; The Broadway, Norton Road and Shenstone Avenue.”

He added: “A new priority was raised at the last PACT meeting in relation to anti-social behaviour.

“The main areas of concern are; Caslon Crescent, Shenstone Avenue and Lavender Lane, where there have been a number of complaints about youths throwing stones, a minor fire was started close to a property, excessive noise by residents and vehicles driving the wrong way down a one way street.”

The next Police and Communities Together meeting is on Thursday October 28 at 7pm at Gigmill Primary School, The Broadway, Norton.
