DUDLEY Kingswinford coach Jon Higgins says the club will not let go of their “once in a lifetime” opportunity.

The Heathbrook side have already clinched the Midlands One West title but still have the chance to complete a remarkable unbeaten season if they win their final two games - starting with the trip to Old Laurentians this Saturday.

Higgins expects his side to keep their feet on the throttle, believing they would regret any defeat for the rest of their careers.

He said: “I can’t see there being any let-up.

“It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for this group of players and nobody wants to lose a game at his stage.

“The chance is there to achieve something special and I think if we lose either game we will end up regretting it forever.

“The hunger is still there and to go through the season winning every game has been our target for some time.

“I expect us to go into the Old Laurentians game with the same attitude we would have if we were playing Sutton Coldfield or any other title challenger.”

Recording a perfect league record is not the only aim remaining this term for DK, after last weekend’s 51-13 quarter-final win at Old Halesonians kept alive their interest in the North Midlands Cup.

They will now face either Bromsgrove, who are currently pushing for the title in the division above, or Hereford in the semi-finals.

Higgins added: “You would expect us to play Bromsgrove now and that would prove a good test for us, to see where we are in relation to a National League team.

“We made a few changes last Saturday, giving a few players a rest and giving those who have been on the fringes of the squad a chance to feature.

“We had two people on debut who played very well indeed and it was encouraging to see the depth we now have in the squad.”
