DUDLEY Kingswinford made it four wins on the spin with a nine try romp against Manchester.

The visitors made a couple of changes for this game, with prop Al Francis replaced by Dan Shakespeare. Tom Weaver replaced Greg Lewis in the centre with the latter benched alongside James Tideswell and Luke Greenwood.

This was a tight, clinical team performance against a side with a lot of heart but lacking DK’s pace and power up front.

The DK back row of Ian Langford, Pete Knight and Tui Asi Pito controlled almost everything at the breakdowns, whilst the front five were always in total control with Stefan Thorp and skipper Ollie Shakespeare outstanding.

Manchester were first onto the scoreboard and led 3-0 with a penalty from centre Scott Redfern after only a minute but DK hit back almost immediately with a well worked try. Scrum half Jordan Brookes made a searing break before handing on to skipper Shakespeare, whose quick hands through Weaver saw Stefan Shillingford power over.

The pressure told again after 15 minutes when Shillingford proved too strong for the home cover, bursting through following strong forward pressure, Jon Higgins converted to make it 12-3.

Manchester rallied briefly when Scott Redfern slotted a 27th minute penalty but DK were already looking ominously strong.

The visitors went further ahead on the half hour when Higgins slipped neatly through a gap in the stretched home cover after more intense pressure and then converted his own try.

DK earned the bonus point for their fourth try of the game in stoppage time when Stefan Thorp smashed his way over the line following a maul. Higgins converted for DK to lead 26-6 at half time.

There was to be no respite for the home side in the second period as DK continued the barrage. A strong attack took play deep into the home 22, before it was quickly spun wide right to Duncan Chance whose pace took him over near the touchline.

Manchester rallied again and a couple of spirited attacks had DK defending but an astute long kick ahead from Simon Fletcher then set up Asi Pito who neatly swept up the loose ball to touch down DK’s sixth try. Higgins again converted and DK were now 4-60 ahead after 48 minutes.

DK’s next score was a Penalty Try when the Manchester forwards infringed once too often in trying to halt a powerful assault on their line.

An eighth try followed a moments later when a wave of attacks from the visitors culminated in a short, powerful break from Shillingford who sent in Matt Farrington at the corner.

Manchester then managed a few more attacks without scoring and it was the visitors who had the final word with a ninth and final try as Shillingford completed his hat-trick.
