MEET baby Eve, Dudley Zoo’s two week-old Brazilian tapir, who made her public debut for visitors this weekend.
The youngster who stuck close to mum Meena for her first outing, is also the offspring of dad Chico and was born on July 3 following a 13 month-long pregnancy.
Since her arrival Eve has spent most of her time in the internal enclosure out of the rain, but the pair managed to dodge showers on Sunday to the delight of visitors.
Assistant Curator Richard Brown, said: "Eve has the distinctive striped and spotted camouflage that all tapir babies are born with and will gradually lose the markings over a period of up to 18 months."
He added: "It's really good news and she is doing really well and we're all delighted. We have a very successful breeding programme here at Dudley Zoo for this endangered species."
Eve also joins big brother, Ronnie and older sister, Tallulah in the South American paddock.
