A QUARRY Bank songwriter hopes to get the ‘whole wide world’ singing along to his latest ditty inspired by the London 2012 Olympics.

Ken Harris wrote the song Whole Wide World with wife Debbie Adams, of Stormforce Music, and it was recorded at Raindance Music Studios in Amblecote ahead of the Games.

It’s not the first time Ken has penned his own material in recognition of Britain’s sporting talent.

Previous offering All The Way (With England) was released ahead of the 2010 World Cup and was voted runner-up in the open category of the UK Songwriting Competition (UKSC).

This time round Whole Wide World, sung by Brierley Hill singer Jon Allen, made it to the semi finals of the Olympic theme category in the latest UK Songwriting Contest and Ken is now waiting to hear whether it has been successful in the USA Songwriting Competition.

He said: “I’ve had really good positive feedback and some feel its the best anthem we've ever written.

“We will be looking for a record company to get involved with the song in the future as the track can inspire people from all walks of life to follow their dreams.”
