A LEADING first aid charity has released a star-studded animated advert to show parents what to do if a baby starts to choke.

Figures released by St John Ambulance revealed that 76 per cent of parents in the West Midlands wouldn't know how to act if their baby was choking, despite it being a major fear.

Emma Elgerton, regional community training co-ordinator for the charity, said: "Knowing what to do in an emergency can be the difference between life and death, especially with something like choking.

"We all know how time-pressed parents are, so this film makes it as easy as possible to learn first aid – in less than 40 seconds we can all know a skill that could save a life.

"Our hope is that people in the region watch, enjoy and share the video with their friends and family, so more of us have the confidence to act in an emergency."

The advert, which features characters voiced by David Walliams, David Mitchell, Johnny Vegas and Sir John Hurt, will be televised over the next three months.
