RHEUMATOID arthritis sufferers are invited to an event at Dudley's Russells Hall Hospital to find out about new types of treatment and how they can receive support for their condition.

The event, taking place on Friday June 23, is being run by the Rheumatoid Arthritis Support Group to mark their tenth anniversary as a support group.

It will give patients, their relatives and carers the chance to hear from clinicians, nurse specialists and members of the support group.

The event, which will take place from 12noon until 4pm in the Clinical Education Centre at Russells Hall Hospital, Pensnett Road, will be hosted by group founder Edith Fones and speakers will include consultant rheumatologists Dr Rainer Klocke and Dr Rav Sandhu, consultant in pain management Dr Karen Douglas and clinical nurse specialist Steph Mole as well as rheumatology specialist physiotherapists and occupational therapists.

Edith Fones said: “We would like to encourage as many people to come along and find out about how they can play a part in our support group and help us raise funds for the trust’s rheumatology service.”

Dr Klocke said the event would be a good opportunity to encourage new members to join the support group and celebrate its achievements over the past decade and he added: “The Rheumatoid Arthritis Support Group has been instrumental in being a voice for all our patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis.”

To book a place call Edith Fones on 01902 676136. Places are limited. Light refreshments will be served during the afternoon.
