DUDLEY'S mayor was bowled over by the support for his annual charity cricket match, which raised £500.

The event, now in its tenth year, took place at Stourbridge Cricket Ground in High Street, Amblecote, on Friday (August 11).

It saw four teams, made up of Dudley Council officers, councillors, community leaders and charities, go head-to-head in a series of games.

Mayoral ambassador Shaz Saleem, who played for the winning team, The Outsiders, said: "It was a great event. The atmosphere was amazing and everyone really enjoyed themselves."

The cash raised from the match will go to the Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Dave Tyler's charities – Dudley Mind, YMCA and Dudley Alzheimer’s Society.

Cllr Tyler said: “The annual cricket match is always a lot of fun and also a great way to raise money for three worthy causes.

“Stourbridge Cricket Club is a fabulous venue for the game and we very much appreciate their support for these charities."
