TWO animal loving veterinary student nurses are putting their best foot forward to walk over hot coals in aid of abandoned cats and kittens.

Paige Stanley, aged 20, and Emma-Louise Bates, aged 18, are hoping to raise money for Stourbridge and District Cats Protection during the firewalk next week.

Run by an army of volunteers and at a cost of around £32,000, the borough branch works all year round rescuing feral cats, injured and lost cats and unwanted kittens and rehoming them to loving new owners living in postcodes DY1 to DY13.

Emma-Louise and Paige are on placement at Vets4Pets in Dudley Port and will be completing the fundraiser across 20ft of hot coals on Saturday, March 26 at RAF Cosford.

Emma Louise, said: "Although I’m getting more nervous about the firewalk I’m also getting more excited about the challenge – I just hope I don’t burn my feet too badly,”

People can sponsor Emma-Louise and Paige by visiting the Fisher Street practice.
