WORCESTERSHIRE chartered financial planners McCarthy Taylor has issued a free guide to help people choose the right financial adviser.

Managing director Paul Taylor said: “Despite all the recent changes in financial regulations it can still be a bewildering experience trying to ascertain what type of advice firms offer, how they go about delivering this, what experience and qualifications they have and just how much it will all cost you.”

The guide contains a series of questions to ask any firm that offers financial advice and gives a guide to the answers people should look for.

“We want to help people to gain an insight into how particular firms work and to assess their suitability," said Mr Taylor. "Our guide includes explanations and guidance about the issues raised by each question and what impact they have on the type of advice and quality of service you will receive.

“By providing you with the correct questions to ask it also ensures that firms will declare all of their charges, ensuring there are no nasty surprises or hidden commissions. We want people to have confidence in what it is a very important decision.”

The guide can also be used by people looking to assess their current adviser’s suitability.
