PROTESTORS fighting a controversial planning application in Hagley face an uncertain Christmas after the issue was shelved at the last minute.
Bromsgrove District Council planners were due to rule on a proposal by Cala Homes for a 174 property estate in the village last night (Monday).
However the item was withdrawn from the agenda yesterday afternoon following a submission on a legal matter from Hagley and Clent Parish Councils.
A spokesman for Bromsgrove District Council said: "We have a responsibility to take legal advice on this matter and consequently it was withdrawn."
Around 100 protestors were expected at the meeting to oppose the application, which they argue would put too much pressure on village roads, schools and medical services.
Cala Homes say their plans include a million pound contribution to road improvements in Hagley while other services will also get cash boosts for improvements to cope with extra residents.
Although no new date was set for the application to be considered, the spokesman said Bromsgrove District Councillors are keen to deal with the matter as soon as possible.
