A WOMAN who survived the Holocaust will be telling her harrowing story at an event in Dudley.
Mala Tribich was born on Poland in 1930 and, following the Nazi invasion of her homeland, was forced to live in ghetto and then as a slave labourer before finishing the Second World War in a concentration camp.
She will be sharing her memories of the horrific treatment and genocide of Jews during the war with students and members of the public at Dudley College, The Broadway, on Friday January 24.
The visit, which takes place between 12.30pm and 1.30pm has been organised by Dudley North MP Ian Austin and Dudley College Student’s Union.
Ian Austin said: “I really hope that as many local people as possible will attend the event during their lunch hour, in between meetings, before going shopping in the town centre or picking the kids up from school.
“More and more people attend the event each year to pay their respects and listen to the amazing stories of those who have survived the Holocaust and to hear about the great bravery of those who risked their own lives to save others.
“To have Mala speaking at the event is a great honour. Hearing her will be a real privilege and something I’m sure the veterans, residents and students in the audience will never forget.”
The event will conclude with the ceremonial lighting of the Candle of Remembrance while Dudley’s Deputy Mayor, cllr Margaret Aston, leads borough faith leaders in a two minutes silence to honour the victims of the Holocaust.
