VISITORS flocked to Kinver for the village's annual country fayre on Sunday June 15.

Thousands of people turned out for the annual fun day, which coincided with Father's Day.

Leading UK re-enactment group The Vikings of Middle England were the headline act of the day which had an 'island race' theme this year.

Other entertainment included Scottish dancing, English folk dancing and Irish music.

The event also included falconry displays, the Wyre Valley Axemen, dog agility displays, archery, children's entertainment, shire horses, donkey rides, farm animals, puppet shows, face-painting, circus workshop, bouncy castles, steam engines, classic cars, beer tent, fun dog show, football challenges and Stourbridge Rugby Club rugby skills stall.

South Staffordshire MP Gavin Williamson also had a stall at the event and judged the fancy dress competition at the event.

He also welcomed a delegation from Park Ridge near Chicago in the USA - which has been twinned with Kinver since 1992.

Members of the group presented the Conservative MP with a paperweight - while he in return gave the guests a signed guide book to the House of Commons.

Gavin, who also took a spin in a 1950s Triumph as part of the procession through the village, said: “I had a wonderful time at Kinver Country Fayre, judging the fancy dress contest and awarding the prize for the best classic car.

"I am a huge fan of classic cars, so I particularly enjoyed viewing the impressive display and having the opportunity to ride in a classic Triumph."
