RESIDENTS can learn about the nature that inhabits their neighbourhood green spaces with a free wildlife event at Lakeside, Amblecote, next week.

Dudley Council is working with the community to hold the bio-blitz eve, which will survey wildlife in the area including birds, moths, bufferflies, plants, pond life and more on Wednesday August 21.

The council’s countryside wardens will be helping participants to undertake the research and it is hoped the results will lead to ways of making the area more nature friendly.

Councillor Tracy Wood, Dudley’s cabinet member for environment and culture, said: “This event is another great example of how our ‘love your community’ campaign is bringing the council and residents together to make our borough cleaner and greener.

“I’m delightedwe are undertaking this survey of local wildlife and would encourage residents to get involved with this important work.”

Participants should meet on Troutbeck Drive, Lakeside, Amblecote, at 6pm.

People are asked to wear suitable clothing and footwear and children aged eight and under must be with a responsible adult.
