BANDS are sought to take to the stage at Amblecote's Glasshouse College at a charity gig for cancer-battling Paul Allen.

The 38-year-old father-of-two was diagnosed with an aggressive grade four brain tumour just months after moving from Norfolk to work at the Glasshouse which provides education for young people with learning disabilities.

Paul, a senior residential support worker and keen musician who lives in Stourbridge’s Old Quarter, has undergone surgery but medics have been unable to completely remove the tumour, which is considered one of the most difficult types of cancer to treat.

Since they heard the devastating news – kind-hearted co-workers have rallied to raise funds for Paul, his partner Cecilia Kus and their two young boys and a Breaking Good gig on July 31 raised £1,000.

A further acoustic night is now set for Friday October 23 and bands and artists are invited to take to the stage.

Sam Mullett, a residential support worker at The Glasshouse, said: “It is unlikely that Paul will be able to attend or perform at the next one as he is feeling so unwell but we are hoping for another successful evening.”

Doors will open at 6.30pm and the music starts at 7pm. Light refreshments and a buffet will be available.

Tickets are £10 and are available on the door at the Wollaston Road venue.

All money raised from ticket sales will go to help Paul and his family.

Bands interested in performing can call 07583 172804.

Businesses are also invited to donate raffle prizes.
