MORE than 120 toys and gifts will be on their way to families in need across the borough this Christmas thanks to an initiative run by Dudley Council and an Amblecote supermarket.

Dudley Council’s Family and Adolescent Support Team (FAST) joined forces with the local Sainsbury’s store to run their annual toy appeal.

Generous customers and staff have donated the toys and gifts for those supported by FAST, which is currently working with 135 families and 247 children.

Councillor Ian Cooper, cabinet member for children’s services, said: “This initiative is a wonderful example of local people coming together to support others in our community.

“Thank you to all of those that have donated toys and to Sainsbury’s for working with us to promote this initiative and support children and families in need this Christmas.”

Kirsty Rose, Sainsbury’s’ Amblecote store manager, said: “I would like to thank all our customers and colleagues who have donated toys and gifts to this year's toy appeal.

“We are overwhelmed by your generosity and would like to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and New Year.”
