THREE pupils at a Chaddesley Corbett school have achieved national success in music and maths.

Edward Lathe, 12, Eshaan Rai, 11, and Lucie Fletcher, 11, of Winterfold House School are celebrating success in their chosen fields.

Edward, of year seven, gained a place in the National Children's Orchestra of Great Britain, the premier symphony orchestra for children in the country.

He will perform concerts with the orchestra at venues including the Royal Festival Hall in London and the Symphony Hall in Birmingham.

Year six pupil Lucie reached the UK finals of the Open Mic Competition, one of the largest competition for unsigned musical talent in the country.

She came fourth in the under 16 category at the O2 Arena.

At the time of the competition, Lucie was 10 making her was the youngest competitor in the final of 33 other singers.

Eshaan, also of year six, has been awarded a bronze medal in a national maths competition.

He took part in the Primary Maths Challenge, a competition taken by more than 70,000 pupils around the country.

He was one of only 1,600 pupils invited to go through to the final round of the competition and his score of 21 out of 25 put him in the top 300 students in the country.

Headteacher Bill Ibbetson-Price said, ‘We are tremendously proud of all three pupils. To achieve success at this level at such an early age is fantastic. I am sure they are names to watch for the future.”
