VOLUNTEERS from Dudley and District Friends of the Earth will be turning a Kingswinford park into a hive of activity this weekend.
Dudley Council has given the group permission to turn a section of King George VI Park into a wildflower haven to provide food and shelter for bees.
The work is part of a national campaign by Friends of the Earth to reverse a worrying decline in many of the UK’s bee populations.
Guy Sheppard, co-ordinator of Dudley and District Friends of the Earth, said volunteers will be in the park near the Park Lane entrance between 11am and 3pm on Saturday September 27 when they will be preparing the ground before sowing wildflower seed.
He added: “We will put up a plaque explaining why the site has been created
“Hopefully, it will be good for bees, an attractive addition to the park and will inspire local gardeners to plant more bee friendly plants as well."
