A DUDLEY charity that supports adults with learning disabilities will showcase some of its exciting volunteer opportunities at Lye Library.

The informal event hosted by Dudley Advocacy will take place at the Chapel Street library on Wednesday August 21 between 10am and 12.30pm.

The charity’s volunteers help those with learning disabilities living in the borough to get their voice heard and make choices about issues including moving home, changing care arrangements and speaking up at review meetings.

Volunteers who would like to help people with letter writing, making telephone calls and translating complicated jargon into accessible information are required, as are those with website, social media, podcast, video production and newsletter skills.

A full induction and support and training will be given to all volunteers.

Sean Ledington, volunteer development officer, said: “We hope to find volunteers from all walks of life, from retired people who can spare a few hours to students who are looking to offer skills in exchange for practical experience that will give them greater job prospects.”

Anyone unable to attend the event but keen to find out more can call 01384 456877.
