A GAS leak in Stourbridge Road has led to temporary two way signals being installed on the main Lye Bye-Pass, motorists are being warned.
National Grid Gas notified Dudley Council earlier today about a gas leak in Lye, which a council spokeswoman said is in “extreme proximity” to the major bye-pass.
To allow the work to be carried out, the temporary signals have been installed on the road and will be in place until the estimated work completion date of Friday (December 13).
The spokeswoman said: “Please be aware that National Grid Gas have notified us that they have a gas leak on Stourbridge Road, Lye.
“Unfortunately this is in extreme proximity to the Lye Bye-Pass (one way system) as the leakage is opposite Travis Perkins.
“In order to facilitate their repair works they need to erect temporary two way signals to gain access to the site and control traffic past the works.
“They have confirmed that they will be manually controlling these signals at all times however due to the extremely traffic sensitive nature of this highway, disruption is likely.”
