THE Deputy Mayor of Dudley walked around Stourbridge blind-folded on World Sight Day to experience the difficulties faced by people with sight loss.
Councillor Margaret Aston was assisted by staff from the borough's Thomas Pocklington Trust on the walkabout on Thursday (October 10).
Members of the public were also invited to try walking with a blindfold or wearing spectacles that simulate eye conditions as part of a day of activities in Stourbridge’s Ryemarket shopping centre - organised by the Oldswinford based sight loss Trust and the Kingswinford and Stourbridge Lions.
Clive Ankers, president of the Lions club, said: “Organising this project gave us a chance to raise awareness of the importance of healthy vision and the causes of vision loss.”
The Lions are taking part in a global ‘sharing the vision’ campaign throughout October - focusing on the importance of maintaining healthy vision.
